2019 Halloween Things to do and Events in Southern California

If you looking to get your scare on or find a fun event. We have listed some of the top events in Southern California you may want to check out.

Who doesn’t like this time of year? My daughter and I take a full weekend each year and get our scare on. It’s our girls weekend and it’s our favorite time of year, the weather has cooled off, the colors are changing and of course the best of all….pumpkin spice everywhere!

Get your scare on at some of the top haunted houses/events in Southern California

Reign of Terror Haunted House: Located in Thousand Oaks. Biggest indoor haunt in Southern California! This is is not for the faint of heart. Award winning walk-through authentic haunted house featuring more than 115 custom rooms loaded with terrifying beings, live monsters and spectacular special effects. Tickets range from $17.00 through $80.00

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride: Located in Los Angeles. Pretty cool hayride, but note you are actually sitting in straw which can get itchy, so dress accordingly. There are also several mazes to walk through and get scarred and they have shows, including a ab lib audience participation skits that are quite funny!

Scream Zone at Del Mar Fairgrounds: San Diego’s largest haunted experience. Includes three terrifying haunts and other monstrous attractions in one location. Considered one of goriest, scariest and screaming-est fright feats to be found in Southern California. There’s something for everyone at this scare event!

Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary: Long Beach. This is our second year going to this one and it’s a “for sure” one to visit. Lots to see and some of the mazes are on the ship, which is very cool. What we like best about this event is the talent. They interact with you and each year the improve and teak each maze. Finding the clues to find the hidden bars inside the mazes is an added treat….drink up at one of the 13 bars! Make it even more scary and stay over night on the ship…..we are pretty sure we had some visitors during the night!

You can’t write about things to do for Halloween time of the year without mentioning our local amusement parks. Ride and scare all at the same time. We suggest you get the VIP and/or fast passes to get really take advantage of the mazes and rides in one night. Lines tend to be long.

Universal Horror Nights: See some of your favorite shows like Stranger Things, Creep Show and the walking dead come to life and scare you all night long. They don’t have the terror tram this year which is a huge disappointment, but they have scary mazes and scare zones to keep you screaming all night long. If you go, make sure you stay until the end and watch the monster march down the main street by the entrance.

Knotts Scary Farm: for 2019 there are 9 mazes total. We were a little disappointed this year. We always buy the fast pass and never waited more than 10 min to go through any maze. This year, it looks like they oversold, some of the mazes were over 45 min, while still shorter than the average 2.5 hour wait time, it created a bitter feeling for us. Also, the park itself was overcrowded and many areas bottlenecked and we felt overwhelmed by it. But if you like mazes and the rides, it’s still worth a night to go…but we suggest going on a Friday night instead of Saturday.

SixFlags Fright Fest: Rides, mazes, and more. There something for everyone here at SixFlags. 6 mazes and scare zones to keep your jumping out of your skin all night long. Need a break? Take in one of the 4 shows. Some of rides are also transformed…take your chances and ride Goliath in the dark!
